Vir-Style Octopus Salad – A Coastal Croatian Classic

Ingredients:

  • 1kg fresh octopus
  • 2 potatoes, boiled and diced
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 handful of cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 2 tbsp capers
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Cook the octopus in boiling salted water until tender (approx. 45 minutes). Let it cool and slice into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the octopus, potatoes, onion, tomatoes, and capers.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice, season with salt and pepper, and mix gently.
  4. Garnish with fresh parsley and chill before serving for the best flavor.
